Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Reclamation and Bonneville Power Administration, as co-lead agencies, have prepared this Columbia River System Operations Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). NEPA requires federal agencies to review and disclose the environmental effects of taking an action. The action referred to in this EIS is not one specific act, but is rather a multi-faceted approach to system operations, maintenance, and configuration of the 14 Federal dam and reservoir projects in Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington, called the Columbia River System (CRS).
