Megaload scheduled to be moving east

March 2, 2011

KOOSKIA – ConocoPhillips’ second megaload was scheduled to be seven miles east of Lowell by now.

The Idaho Transportation Department announced it was permitting the half drum bound for a Billings, Mont., refinery to move Tuesday. It had been stranded in Kooskia for more than a week because of weather.

If everything went as planned, it will be on track to reach Montana after three more segments of travel. The load takes up two lanes of traffic and is allowed to move between 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. The load must be pulled over at least every 15 minutes to allow traffic to pass.
