Fourth ConocoPhillips megaload heads east

May 11, 2011

The fourth megaload of ConocoPhillips left the Port of Lewiston Tuesday night.

The oversized transport was anticipated to reach Kooskia in its first leg of travel carrying a Japanese drum half bound for a refinery in Billings, Mont.

Two are already at the refinery. A third left Lewiston recently and is just inside the Montana border. ConocoPhillips has no other oversized loads it plans to send on U.S. Highway 12 through Idaho.

The extra big shipment takes up two lanes of traffic and is required to pull over every 15 minutes to allow traffic to pass. It is accompanied by off-duty Idaho State Police troopers.
