ConocoPhillips loads expected to hit Kooskia

A drum half for a ConocoPhillips refinery went from Lewiston to just outside Orofino in its first segment of travel and was expected to reach Kooskia this morning.

That account from the Idaho Transportation Department Wednesday differed from the version on the oil company’s information line, which indicated it was supposed to reach Kooskia Wednesday morning and get to milepost 107 today.

Attempts by the Tribune to get an explanation of the reason for the discrepancy weren’t successful. The megaload is bound for Billings, Mont.

It consumes two lanes of traffic and is supposed to pull off the roadway every 15 minutes to allow traffic to pass. It is restricted to traveling between 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 12.
