April 30, 2011

A third megaload of ConocoPhillips carrying a drum half is set to leave Lewiston at 10 p.m. tonight, heading to a refinery in Billings, Mont.

The 29-foot-wide, 28-foot-tall, 226-foot-long shipment is expected to take six nights to cross Idaho on U.S. Highway 12. It is scheduled to reach the outskirts of Orofino in the first segment, and Kooskia in the second part of the trip. The other stops are at milepost 106, milepost 139, milepost 169 and inside Montana.

The oversized loads have to pull over once every 15 minutes to allow traffic to pass and are restricted to travel between 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

Idaho State Police as well as Idaho Transportation Department crews will accompany the load, along with emergency medical personnel.

Information about the location of the shipment will be available at (866) 535-0138.
